Title: Echo Sprint – Sound-Based Relay + Obstacle Tags
Prepared by: Charity Helpers Foundation
Date: 2025-06-14
Version: 1.0

---

**CONCEPT SUMMARY**
Echo Sprint is a unique auditory-based game that challenges participants to navigate a timed relay course blindfolded using only the sound cues of their teammates. Each player must tag specific sound-triggered obstacles and pass the baton by voice alone.

---

**REQUIRED EQUIPMENT**

- Blindfolds for all runners
- Soft baton (foam or cloth)
- Sound-triggered obstacle devices (buzzers, clappers, jingles, etc.)
- Speakers for cue sounds (optional)
- Whistle or bell for timing and round transitions
- Stopwatch for timing

---

**FIELD LAYOUT**

- 40’ x 20’ rectangular course with 3–5 tagged obstacle stations
- Tag zones clearly marked with tactile cues (foam pads, textured mats)
- Relay change zone with spotters

---

**PLAYER ROLES**

- 3–4 players per team
- One blindfolded runner at a time
- Remaining team members give verbal navigation cues
- Referee oversees safe relay transitions and tag verification

---

**GAME OBJECTIVE**

Complete the obstacle course relay faster than the opposing team, with each runner tagging all sound stations and safely transferring the baton using only auditory and verbal coordination.

---

**BASIC RULES**

1. Runners must remain blindfolded until course completion.
2. Teammates may only use sound and voice — no physical guidance.
3. Missing a tag station requires restarting that leg.
4. Baton drop = automatic 5-second penalty.
5. Relay switch occurs in the designated zone only.

---

**VARIATIONS / SCALING IDEAS**

- **Silent Zones**: Introduce sections where runners must rely on memory.
- **Flash Cue Mode**: Combine occasional light flashes with sound for neuro-diverse adaptation.
- **Junior League**: Reduce obstacle count and course length.
- **Night Sound Run**: Use glow markers and minimal light for added challenge.

---

**STAT TRACKING SUGGESTIONS**

- Individual leg time
- Number of missed tags
- Communication clarity score (judged by referee)
- Penalty time
- Overall course completion time

---

**NOTES**
Echo Sprint promotes trust, team communication, and auditory skills. This event works especially well for inclusive events and diverse ability demonstrations. Great for gymnasiums, charity lock-ins, and school competitions.
